Āyurveda  is the sister science of yoga, and utilizes for its practice and application all six of the Othodox Indic Darśanas, or “philosophical world views” which will be discussed (focusing most specifically on Sankhya, Yoga and Vedanta teachings). Gunas (the three grand qualities/perspectives of nature), the five elements and the doṣas (individual temperaments) will be explored and looked to be applied to students, teachers and āsana practice course planning.
 
These ancient teachings will also be applied to modern-day hygiene, proper and efficient yoga practitioner food choices and essential lifestyle changes for optimal health and well-being.
